   bodytext =>protected'<p>As part of the annual commemoration of the Salzburg book burning of 1938 
      the Initiative Freies Wort organized an event in 2025 that sets the fokus on
      : Hope.<br /> The public event will take place at the Alte Residenz, startin
      g at 6:30 PM, featuring a moderated panel discussion on the theme of hope. I
      nvited guests include a theologian, a philosopher, an artist, and two musici
      ans. The discussion will critically examine the role of hope in social and p
      olitical upheavals.<br /> Following the discussion, a speech at the memorial
       for the book burning will be held, accompanied by music and a specially com
      posed carillon performance.<br /> The book burnings in Nazi Germany from 193
      3 onward, as well as the Salzburg book burning of 1938 following Austria’s
       annexation, symbolized the destruction of free cultural and intellectual li
      fe. The Nazi regime propagandized these acts as the beginning of a so-called
       modernized era, aiming to erase the "old system." However, under the banner
       of a racially defined, "purified" national identity, hopes for a better lif
      e were exploited and misdirected.<br /> This event will explore how false ho
      pes, which led to destruction and manipulation in the past, can be addressed
       today. It will also highlight the human dimensions of hope, which—even in
       times of crisis—serve as a source of guidance and confidence and hold the
       power to shape a positive vision for the future.</p>
