The AAI - a place where intercultural life takes place.
We are a university-related institution of the Archdiocese of Salzburg in the heart of Salzburg's old town. We work in the field of sustainable development and international cooperation and open spaces for interreligious and intercultural encounters. Through exchange with people from countries of the Global South, global connections and our own involvement in processes of globalisation become tangible. A central concern is to awaken appreciation and interest for the diversity of the people living in Salzburg - without refusing to engage constructively with the challenges of social diversity.
We support, accompany and involve
Within the framework of the "Scholarship Programme for One World", students from African, Asian and Latin American countries are financially supported and personally accompanied. They also assume an important intercultural ambassadorial function and contribute to the educational and cultural work at the AAI as speakers, language teachers and project initiators. As a counselling and contact centre for international students, we listen to each and every individual's concerns, worries and needs.
We promote education, knowledge and experience exchange between North & South
Our basic aim is to highlight global interrelationships, raise awareness of injustices and discuss current issues in the context of globalisation with its opportunities and risks. It is of particular importance that people from the Global South - both those affected and experts - have a voice. We see ourselves as a platform for exchange, where common ideas are developed and activities for necessary changes are facilitated. In doing so, we always succeed in stimulating creativity and producing surprising results. Because the idea of a sustainable world worth living in is only realised through dialogue and joint action in North and South.
We are a place of encounter and networking
People with international backgrounds and experts have the opportunity to present their diverse knowledge and experience and to contribute to a positive coexistence in intercultural and interreligious dialogue. We offer communities and cultural associations space for their activities, for encounters and evolvement. We want to bring people together: within the framework of our own events and offers, but also by connecting experts on topics, music, culture and languages from the Global South to schools, associations, parishes, institutions or individuals.
