      s of the country's rich culture and eventful history. Originally a luxury di
      sh of the upper class in Kabul, Kabuli Palaw became the national dish and an
       expression of festive culture throughout Afghanistan. Over time, as the dis
      h became accessible to broader sections of the population, its name changed 
      to Qabeli Palaw – an indication of the skill of the cooks, derived from the 
      Dari word “qabel,” which means “capable, worthy, or competent.” Today, in ti
      mes of political repression and social crisis under Taliban rule, the dish a
      lso stands for the resilience of a culture that refuses to be silenced.</p>
